The song
"Mbube" is a popular song written and composed by South African musician Solomon Linda in 1939. It was first published in South Africa and made its way to the United States a decade later. In 1961, the Tokens adapted the melody and added English lyrics to create "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", lending the song the name by which it is best known today.
Tight Fit
Tight Fit are an English pop group who had several hits in the early 1980s, including a UK No.1 for three weeks with their cover version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in 1982.
This decade's look
Neon and Memphis: a dark indigo ground, cyan, hot pink and yellow, a neon-tube display face, a geometric sans and hard square shadows.
