Accessibility

This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA, so that everyone can read it, move around it with a keyboard, and play the songs.

What that means in practice

  • Every page works at 320 pixels wide and at 400% zoom with no sideways scrolling.
  • Nothing is set smaller than 16 pixels. Colour contrast is measured when the site is built, and a failing pair stops the build.
  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone: a skip link, visible focus, headings in order, and real links and buttons.
  • The decade decorations and the television's effects are purely decorative, and all of them stop if your system asks for reduced motion.
  • The video player is YouTube's own, with its own controls and captions where the video has them.

How it was checked

Each page type was tested with axe-core, with a keyboard, at phone width, and with Lighthouse, before launch. Those checks are repeated when the design changes.

Known limits

The YouTube player inside the television is YouTube's, so its accessibility is theirs to maintain. If something on this site is hard to use, reply to the person who sent you the link, and it will be fixed.
